Brand Photography Case Study for Physiotherapists - JLinks

JLinks are a team of professional physiotherapists focusing on personalised, home-based physiotherapy and long-term client relationships.

Their emphasis on showcasing genuine interactions, highlighting their team’s expertise, and reflecting their approach to care required an in-depth approach. Working together long-term (6 months) meant we could evolve the project and evolve with their brand’s growth.

Client Case Study.

From capturing the authentic connections between physiotherapists and patients to reflecting on their unique service delivery, my role goes beyond creating images—it’s about strengthening their brand narrative and delivering results that resonate with their clients.

I spoke with Director Joanna about their ethos and her perspective on working with me.

Introducing JLinks.

We’re predominantly a community and home-visiting physiotherapy service because we want to provide high-quality physiotherapy to people in their homes and transform their lives.

Our focus is currently on two powerful missions: improving the lives of the people who’ve received our care and services and the team delivering them.

We want to allow our fantastic team of physiotherapists to work with clients for as long as they need and provide rehab throughout their recovery journey. The client very much leads our services to their individual needs.

Our company has experienced significant changes throughout the previous six months (and since we started the project with you). We’ve reset our values, and the brand is stronger than ever, with a clear direction for the future—we are in a great place and need to reflect that in our branding and marketing.

New Content for the JLinks Brand.

The mission and plan were always there, and that hasn’t changed. However, the brand has grown, and the focus has sharpened around the scale we plan for our physiotherapists to serve clients.

We’re expanding the geographical reach of our physiotherapists and looking at other opportunities to grow our position in the broader community and provide quality care.

We needed to improve our visual presence and marketing to elevate our brand to the top of the physiotherapists’ tree and support our company’s growth and values.

The Plan.

We needed to update our website, digital marketing (Social media) and print marketing materials to focus on the people and personalities behind the patients and highlight the value of the relationships between our physiotherapists, the patients, and the clients.

One crucial aspect for us was including real patients and clients in our marketing. We wanted to tell the clients’ stories about their rehabilitation, show the diverse range of patients we work with, and show the journey of working with a physiotherapist from the client’s perspective and the experience they get working with us.

Why use a professional photographer for brand photography?

I know that we all have cameras these days. While sometimes we use our phones to grab something quickly, we still need an itemised library of high-quality images for our website, which has multiple uses.

You’re an expert in photography, and we trust you to do what you do best. Just as we are expert physiotherapists, we wouldn’t expect you to treat a client—it’s about using the right expert for the best result.

We needed someone we could trust with direction or clarity, an outside perspective, and someone who could focus on the story that needed to be told.

You did this, especially the work you did with Nicole and her client. You were able to spot that and capture their relationship perfectly.

Why work with Graham Baker Photography?

We had to think about someone we could take to a client’s house. I met you through networking in Bexley and learned about your work ethic. So we knew you understood the importance of privacy, the dignity of patient care, and the fact that we’re disclosing the addresses of quite vulnerable people.

Your history, background, and integrity allowed us to make sure we were choosing the right person.

Business relationships are built on trust, aren’t they? And we trusted you.

Were there challenges during the Process?

Along with our internal structure changes, we faced some challenges, especially around identifying willing clients, factoring in the time and space at each location, and fitting it in with everybody’s schedule and client appointments. Despite these challenges, we overcame them and achieved a positive result!

The Long Game.

We believe it’s vital for businesses to have a photographer they’ll stick with in the future.

Working with you over time and maintaining a long relationship develops trust and an understanding of our company values and goals. You know our story and see it through our perspective. I don’t think many businesses think like this. But they should!

Our journey with you has been positive, and we believe that working with you long-term means we’re already ahead of the game for the next phase of our journey. Your role is about capturing moments and shaping our brand’s narrative.

It’s not speed dating! It’s a long-term relationship, isn’t it?  Working with a photographer who understands your brand, your ethos, and your company’s growth will ensure it’s reflected in the images.

Why is it essential for a brand to have genuine photography?

There’s something about the raw authenticity of what it feels like to be a physiotherapist and finding the story behind the picture.

We need to show authenticity. We have outstanding staff and want to showcase the team in action. Our team are qualified physios, and a stock image of somebody with a stethoscope around their neck or looking like they’re attempting a massage and thinking it’s a reflection of delivering physiotherapy is a disservice to their experience.

Our team are better than any stock image stuff!

Real World.

We don’t typically work in a clinical environment. We are real people delivering community and home visit physio. Delivering in clients’ homes or care facilities is personal, so our images must reflect that, so we don’t use stock photography

It can be busy working on location with lots of activity, family members and carers in and out, so we need to show we understand this.

Trust.

It’s about building trust with clients and patients. How can they begin to trust something that they haven’t seen? It’s reassuring to the client that they’ve already seen a picture of us and our work when we first visit their house.

We need to show our personal entity and why people choose us. It is about the company’s personality, how we work with our clients and partners, and us as people.

And showing JLinks USP. Many others provide physiotherapy services, but they’re not called JLinks, right? So we need to show what’s specific to us. Our USP lies in our personalised, home-based physiotherapy services, and we want our photography to reflect this.

The Value.

You over-delivered on our expectations because we now have a library of content that showcases our story and resonates with our clients. Your work has added significant value to our brand.

There is a downside, though – having so many images to manage and keep track of!

There were other photographers out there, and we could have gone cheaper. But we saw the value of what you do and wanted to work with you because we knew that going for a premium service would be better value in the long run.

It’s like what you said about us. We don’t sell physiotherapy; we deliver the benefits of the physio. You don’t sell photography. You give us the results of using great visual content in our marketing.

Final thoughts about business, branding and Graham Baker Photography.

Our brand, team, clients, and patients must feel connected despite being in multiple locations. Your photos help bridge that connection.

Going back to what we’ve just said, when you trust your business and brand to someone else, you need to ensure they understand the depth of your vision and translate the vision into images (visual content).

You very much did that.

As our relationship (us and you as our photographer) grows, we will continue to find different ways to keep the brand fresh as our company develops. Thank you.

Don't ask me. Ask my clients.

We entrusted Graham with the important task of capturing the story of JLinks Physiotherapy. He took the time to listen—not just to us but also to our clients—ensuring he truly understood the essence of what we do. Graham skillfully captured professional headshots and joined us in the field, photographing us as we worked with clients, even in the privacy of their homes. His ability to make everyone feel comfortable and respected is exceptional, and it shows in the authenticity of his work. Graham has a genuine interest in people, and his talent is in his ability to translate what he hears into compelling photography. We are incredibly grateful for his professionalism, creativity, and care in helping us showcase our story. Highly recommended!
