Brand Photography for Interior Designers - Dhooper BCG Ltd – A Family-Run Bespoke Carpentry Business in London
Client Case study - for Interior Designers
Dhooper BCG Ltd is a newly established interior designer, bespoke carpentry and joinery business with a strong foundation in craftsmanship and design. As a family-run company, they sought to have their brand reflect their expertise, personal approach, and the high-end quality of their work. Professional photography became key in shaping their brand identity and showcase their ethos to potential clients.
I sat down with the team at Dhooper BCG Ltd to discuss their journey, the importance of visual storytelling, and their experience working with me.
Who are Dhooper BCG?
We’re a family-run, interior designers and bespoke carpentry/joinery business. We create custom woodwork, including built-in furniture, bespoke kitchens, and unique storage solutions. We focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
We work closely with residential clients (and will expand to commercial clients in the future) within the M25 London area to design and build exactly what they need. So it’s not just about making things—it’s about creating something that fits their space and lifestyle.
We take great pride in the experience and journey we take for our clients. It’s bespoke, and we strive to create an intimate relationship, build trust, not overcharge, listen to our client’s needs, and deliver what we promise with exceptional customer service.
You have many years of interior design and creative experience between you, so why not create the photography yourselves?
We tried taking pictures on our phones, but they just didn’t do justice. No matter how great someone’s work is, no one will buy into it if it’s poorly photographed. If we’re taking pictures on our phones to keep to a lower budget, people will not buy into the quality our brand represents.
We wanted to find a fantastic photographer who understands lighting, angles, and how to tell a story through images, and thankfully, we found you.
No matter what business it is, I recommend that people hire a professional photographer and ensure that their work is of a quality that will represent your brand.
Why Professional Photography Is Essential to an interior designers Brand?
We knew that having high-quality imagery would be crucial for our brand. Carpentry and joinery are very visual—people need to see the quality of our work, the details, and the craftsmanship. A website or social media page with poor-quality images wouldn’t reflect the high-end nature of our work.
Especially when it comes to social media and branding, people may look at your post for less than a second, and it’s so important that what you present in that second is the absolute best quality you can produce. I’m a strong believer in letting the professionals do their job.
Did you have any objections or concerns about working with a professional photographer?
We were clueless about the process and unsure how much a professional photographer would charge! However, having the consultation was really helpful. You explained the process and reassured us about the return on our investment.
The value we got from several hours of working with you far exceeded our expectations!
The Photography Process & Experience
The team wanted imagery that showcased their craftsmanship and highlighted the people behind the brand. They shared their experience of working with me and how the session was tailored to their needs.
If we’re being honest, you were the first person we spoke to when searching for a photographer. You started making us think more about our brand and how we want to portray ourselves.
You asked very specific questions to understand our brand, and nobody else came close to the way you did this. You even encouraged us to research other photographers.
Honestly, though, our minds were made up from that first call!
The Pinterest board was the best thing because we could convey what we needed. It helped that we are creative people and we visualise things; it helped us plan how we wanted to come across.
The process was so smooth. You really took the time to understand what we wanted – not just product shots but images that showed us working, interacting with materials, and being hands-on. You made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, which isn’t easy when you’re not used to being photographed!
You guided us through the whole shoot, from the setup to positioning. You even helped us think about what type of images would be best for different platforms – some for the website, some for social media, and even images we could use in brochures and marketing materials. That level of planning made the whole process feel effortless for us.
It shows how invested you are in your clients. You genuinely want to help them, produce the best photography for them, and help them beyond just the photography. That’s how we think in terms of our business, too, and the reason why we connected well in the first place.
That was really important to us because we want clients to see that we’re not just about selling a product but about creating something unique for them.
How are you going to use your new images?
As soon as I got my headshot, I changed my LinkedIn profile picture straight away!
We will be using pretty much all of our social media presence and website to showcase what we do. Yeah, we will be using them everywhere!
What’s The Impact of Professional Photography?
So many businesses in our sector rely on quick snapshots, but having professional photography sets us apart. It shows potential clients that we care about every aspect of what we do, including how we present ourselves, and potential clients will take us seriously. We want to set high first impression standards.
If they were poor photographs or we were ‘let’s take a couple of selfies’ for our website, would clients take us seriously when it comes to investing a significant amount into a project? I would say not!
The Power of Brand Storytelling Through Imagery
The photos don’t just show what we do; they show who we are. We hadn’t even thought about that before, but now we can see how much it matters. Clients get to know us before they even pick up the phone. It makes a huge difference in building trust.”
People don’t appreciate how much planning goes into brand photography. Your brand is how people perceive you, and if your images don’t match the quality of your work, you’re doing yourself a disservice.
What advice would you give someone looking to work with a professional photographer?
Do your research and consult with them on the phone. Don’t just choose the easiest options; have an in-depth conversation.
Ask questions you might feel uncomfortable asking because they will help you understand what you need and what they can offer you.
Make sure you find someone you genuinely like, with whom you can get a good feel, and who understands your brand.
Once you’ve had a conversation, research their work, and actually see if what they’re trying to tell you about themselves marries up to what you’re seeing on their websites or social media. Check their reviews and testimonials on Google for proof to ensure they’re credible.
Any Final Thoughts?
We recommend you. First, your personality and character are super important. I’d like to think we’re pretty friendly people, and having you, your personality, your character, and the vibe we’ve got from you was amazing. And that was so important to help us just relax.
